Modifying Product Listing

This is the situation...

I have already modified product_listing.php so it displays items 3 at a time in a line. I like this much better than the default. Once clicking on a product in the list, you are taken to the description page.

 

What I would like to have is when a product is clicked, have the description page appear at the top of the product list. That way customers never leave the list.

 

I have looked around for contributions that might do this, but have not been very fortunate.

Hi mattjoo: what do you mean "it displays 3 in a line instead of the default? 3 in a row is the default. I've been looking for a contribution that will let me change it to 1 in a row. I thought I found it with Randy Newmans contrib, but it didn't work out. If you find one that will let you configure it let me know. Mike

Three in a row is only default for the "New Products" box. In product listings, default is listing one per row. At least, that is how my osCommerce came.

 

If you click the original link I provided, you'll see I have 3 products per row. What I want is when a customer clicks on a product, the products entire description page (minus the header, footer part, etc...) to show up about the products listing. By doing this, customers will always be able to see all of the products. It's somewhat like working with with frames, if that makes any sense. I try to provide an example if this still does not make any sense. Thanks

Many thanks, it worked nicey. Some other contribs claimed to do the same thing but they didn't work.
