Please forgive me if this is a "dumb" question. It's time for me to update my current website. I have several hundred BMW products on my site.

I just started doing research on osCommerce. Can I use osCommerce backend with ANY template I find online?

For example, below is a link to a template I'm interested in, even though I need to alter the template for it to work with my products, can I use osCommerce with this template?

In short, NO!

Search the contributions site for 'sts' or 'simple template system'

This will allow you to integrate osc with a template by just using a single html page.

Be warned it will take you some time to do if you are not fluent in html.

Then would it even benefit me to use osCommerce if I want a "flashy/high tech" looking site?

The osCommerce is too boring for my industry. I've seen other companies use osCommerce and there sites look nothing like most osc. sites. But they still have the similar layout.

You can make an osC site look like whatever you want it to look like, it does not need to look like the default at all. You can use a template that you buy somewhere but you cannot just plug it in as you purchased it, you will need to take the seperate pieces and add them to the correct place. Yes it can be done but it does take some work.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

My IT guy and I designed my current site in HTML, but I don't have time to do it over again.

I would like to use osC, but need a custom looking site. What companies offer this service?

Well it is not a matter of doing it over but a matter of transferring it to your new store. This will take some work but it probably not as bad as starting from scratch.

As noted earlier you may want to check out the sts template system as it uses a html template and can make it easier to transfer the look of your current site.

Other than that there are no commercial postings allowed so if someone posts "hey I will do it for $$" it will get pulled anyway.
