FixItPete Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 For some reason I can't get a grasp on how price and tax works. I set a price for an item @ $1.10 and when I go to my product listing it shows as $1.04. I think my next question has something to do with finding an answer to my first question. The store is located in NJ, so when I do a test-purchase as a customer from NJ, I do not see any of the 6% tax that I think I should see. I have fiddled with the admin settings but I don't really understand: Tax zones Tax classes Tax rates Is there a place I can learn about this? Thanks for help with a very newbie question! Pete I find the fun in everything.
FixItPete Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 Read the knowledge base... searched... nothing. What the heck am I missing? I find the fun in everything.
FixItPete Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 I played with it, and sort of fixed the problem. I really don't understand what I did... would be nice to have a comprehensive understanding of how it works... if anyone wants to share a link, etc. that would be nice. :) :) :) Pete I find the fun in everything.

Pete <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are seeing the 1.04 because of the tax rate you are using (1.04 + 6% = 1.10). The tax zone is generally just the state that you are in. Change the tax rate to what it is for your state, which you apparently have done. Tax classes and tax rates are used to set the tax on specific groups. When you enter a product, you declare its class. If that class is entered in admin->tax class, then that product gets taxed.
