Nice look! spacer.gif is missing, and to set the footer center, use the align="center" tag in the relevant <td>

Looks great aesthetically. Colors chosen are very soothing to the eye.

- In the header, the text for My Account, Cart Contents and Checkout are hardly visible. Similarly cannot read www.....at the bottom of header, font is too small. Maybe its just me.

- Need equal margins on the left of left column and right of right column. Left margin for left column keeps changing from page to page.

- You could change Top>>Catalog to 'Home' in english.php.

- Few images missing under Business Partners info box in the left column.

- Since you have Business Partners info boxes in both right and left column, you might horizontally allign them. Also move a few info boxes to right column to balance out the spacing for columns. This way you would not have a huge empty space below the products grid on your home page.

- On the product detail page, do you need an empty 'Specials' and 'Best Sellers' info box in the right column.

- Click to enlarge does not add any value. Firstly the image size is the same. Secondly the window size is too small and chopping the image.

- Too much scrolling for categories that have a lot of products. Might want to limit the number of products to 10 or so on a page. This can be easily accomplished through admin module.

- Under Information info box in left column, most of the pages do not have contents.

I would want to see your 1-800 number on the 'Contact Us' page. Also providing a physical address boosts customer confidence.

Just my 2 cents worth comments.

I like the shop and once cached the load times are fine. The products are attractively presented and the colour scheme is attractive. A few things could be improved on.

The initial load time was around 16 seconds on broadband. You need to halve that. I suggest getting rid of some the baskets on the home page and shunting off some of those business partners onto a links page. I mean what have shoes or Brookstones (?) got to do with what you are selling? Actually these are the main problem. They seem to appear on every page like railroad tracks running down the middle of the screen, overshadowing the content.

Do you need the currencies box as you only sell in US$?

So you sell gifs and occas? What are they?

Maybe the standard blue buttons could be replaced by something more in keeping with your site and you could get rid of the date the product was added.

I suggest you centre the footer as it looks a little odd on the left hand side of the screen.

My account etc. are quite hard to make out. Is that intentional?

Thanks for all your help...I need it!! :-"

Looks good,

In order to improve aestheics, I would eliminate the gray from within your info boxes, this way the image .gif edges become unnoticable. This will result in a look of having gray borders around white content boxes.

Also, you have alot of negative space at the bottom of the mainpage underneath featured inventory which I dont like. It find a way to reduce it, fill it, or eliminate it.

Thanks,

Your website looks great.

However even on ADSL it is a bit slow.

If you are handy with using contributions you could try:

Otherwise try to eliminate or reduce the size of your images. What is happening at the moment is that the size of your images are not reduced until it reaches the customer. What you want is that the size of your images are reduced before it even reaches the internet.

Your site does look good. Here are some improvements I can see that may hopefully allow you to better the aesthetics and navigation of your site.

1. Someone already mentioned it, but the links in the upper right corner of your header are difficult to read. Ever thought of placing the red links on a beige background. Be much more user friendly.

2. The link at the lower right corner of header looks to me to intentionally be that way. It appears to have no purpose but aesthetic ones and thus I see no reason to change it.

3. Your images on not properly resized, only rescaled, and thus create a warped image. This does not convey a good "image" (no pun intended) to your customers and adds a very amateurish feeling to the site.

4. I would spend some time trying to align my left and right columns with the design in your footer. It looks great and leaves just enough spacing on the outer sides of the columns to be aesthetically pleasing.

5. The continually present empty voids in the center are annoying. It is always better to have emptiness in columns than in the center (your content area). I would use #6 below to remedy this easily.

6. Drop ALL of your advertisements that do not pertain to your store. I always recommend against trying to earn quick dollars with advertising for other people. What this essentially does is allows your customers to easily lose conentration on your site and products. This is particularly true with impulse shoppers. It also allows your customers to easily find your competitors (Macy's, Di's Diamonds as an alternative for gift on Valentine's, etc.). The last thing you want to do is help your competitors. Always advertise for YOURSELF if you are going to advertise anything. The sales you lose over time will make those few extra bucks you made look rediculously low and unimportant. Plus, this will eliminate your open space in the center.

7. Reviews is not aesthetically pleasing nor useful if empty. I would delete this box altogether and have reviews only on product pages as a way to increase sales there as opposed to increasing impulse buys (which it will not do where it is).

8. Your welcome mesage has punctual errors in it. I would recommend correcting this immediately.

Of course do not make the text blue, but you get my idea.

9. Make your main logo either a transparent background or the same color as the header's background. It clashes right now and looks awkward.

10. Lose the little remaining stock OSc images, such as the envelope at the top of "Contact Us".

11. Add your shipping and returns data. As a potential customer I look at these, and right now eBay sellers have more info than you do. It would definitely cause someone as myself to not buy.

12. Add your Privacy Notice, a must have. Never NEVER open a store without one. Go to the BBBOnline.com site and they have resources to assist you in constructing a formal and friendly one.

13. Right now, if I buy anything from you, I can essentially return it after using it for a couple months right? I thought so, it does not say otherwise in your Shipping/Returns, or your Conditions of Use! That is just setting yourself up for fraudulent activities. Make sure you get a legally binding Agreement between you and your site users in there immediately. Many sites out there will give you hints and tips on making your agreement more legal binding, but the best way is to pay the minimal fee for a lawyer to revewi and/or draft one for you.

14. Your copyright statement has no legal stature and thus could be ignored. For a copyright statement to be as legal binding as possible, always state it as follows:

Copyright © 2004 Barbara Brady, City, State

I am putting your name there because I assume since you did not include a registered denotion (Inc., LLC, Co., etc.) you are a sole proprietor. In cases like this it is better to list your personal name as you are the copyright holder of the content. The city and state are for legal rendering of the correct Barbara Brady in all instances.

Also be sure to create at the lower section of your Conditions page a legal and lengthy copyright statement. Place a target at its header and link to the target from your copyright statement. (i.e. http://www.treasuresbybarbara.com/conditions.php#copyright)

15. In advanced search, you still have original osC coloring and imaqes.

16. Last but not least, review whether the live chat is essential to your customer's needs. Will they have problems that will be better resolved immediately, or can they be remmedied within 24 hours via e-mail. The reason for this is that the live chat button does more harm than help when there are no operators online. Unless you have someone you is available throughout the day at standard times, it is fruitless.

With the toll-free number you have (with voicemail I am assuming) if someone does not wish to use e-mail, their first step is towards the phone. With those two means of contact available, I do not see a need for the chat button. Just something to think about.

Meanwhile, get on #12, 13 and 14 immediately. Then you can look at the rest. Those are the three that could potentially do the most harm to you :-(

Hope this helps and the best of luck to you!
