peterr
Hi, If you have the 2 files ............... 1. The .htaccess goes in your /admin path 2. The 'password' file (usually called .htpasswd , but it can be called anything you like) usually also goes in the same path .. /admin 3. You can put the password file anywhere you like, as long as you change the line in .htaccess, to show the correct path. It is in fact more secure if you place the password file outside the webroot path, although any decent server will be configured to disallow the viewing of any files beginning with a period. ♥Vger
There is another way to do this. FTP to your website and rename the admin folder, change the paths in admin/includes/configure.php from /admin/ to /newname/, then go to your web hosting control panel and password protect the folder under it's new name. This will give you a User Name and Password you can use to access the 'admin' folder, and will write the changes into .htaccess and .htpasswd for you.
