LisaC Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 I was browsing the forums and saw the same thing psted by others but for the life of me I didn not understand teh replies. I asked a friend to help and she didn't understand them either. I am not an idiot lol but don't understand the in depths of these things. My problem is this. I was editing pages within my shop and when done I went to register and the page can not be displayed. There are a few pages that suddenly do not appear. log in....create account...my account...checkout. None of those pages function now and I am not sure why. I think perhaps something is wrong on teh index.php page that i edited which enables those pages to pull up when clicked but I can not find this error or what I possibly did to cause it. I did not touch those pages so it could not e them. If anyone can help me I would truly appreciate it. I have no idea where to start or what to do to fix them. Thanks so much. I forgot to add my link in case someone needs to see it. http://ljgdesign.com/store/ Thanks

If you ftp the new file and get an error, you can easily put things back the way they were by restoring the old file. Second, are you getting any error messages that give you (or us) a hint as to where and what the problem might be? Third, are you refreshing your browser after uploading the new files? Fourth, are you too far along to start over with a clean install? If so, a program like Beyond Compare can help restore broken files if you use it to compare original files to yours (you can decide whether a particular difference is due to a contribution that you have installed that works or is part of the problem code). Posting a link to your site might help too.

LisaC Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 First, before you edit any file, you should make a backup of that file. If you ftp the new file and get an error, you can easily put things back the way they were by restoring the old file. I know this but didn't do this. It is something I tell everyone to do also..I know DUH Second, are you getting any error messages that give you (or us) a hint as to where and what the problem might be? This is the message I get when I click the link to the pages "The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. " Third, are you refreshing your browser after uploading the new files? Yes I am Fourth, are you too far along to start over with a clean install? I can always start again but I have put a lot of work into it and it cause a lot of hair loss lol First, before you edit any file, you should make a backup of that file. LisaC Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 I don't thing you could cause this by editing the index.php file. Are yu sure those files are still on your server? LisaC Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 I don't know how to do this. I am not sure what it is you want me to post here. Please explain? Also those other pages you told me to see. I did and they are fine. Even from the create_account page I can not access the log in page from hte link there. I filled in the information on the create account page and when I clicked submit it failed as the other pages did. I can pull those pages up but can not submit anything. I think I best restart the whole darn thing :( Could be related to your SSL. Can you post your configure files (minus PW etc.)? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

In catalog/includes/configure.php, find this line (should be around 16): define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure? In catalog/admin/includes/configure.php, find this line (around 18) define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', true); // secure webserver for catalog module Change "true" to "false" in both and see what happens. If you think you have SSL, is it yours or a shared certificate?
LisaC Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 OMG !!!! You are a saint lol Thank you SOOO much. That's what it was. The pages show up now and people can register.
