theenlightenedone
Im new to this so be kind :-" I need abit of advice about Postage etc in the UK. If for example i have items that costs ?2.00 and i am charging 80p for postage, And they add say 4 more at ?2.00 the posatge then will come to ?4.00, Seems a bit on the expensive side, really want to offer them a postage discount. But if they add or buy a more expensive item says ?15 obviously i dont want to be only charging 80p for postage for that 1 item ? What is the best way to do this ? By weight ? I hope and pray that the deceased have a good onward journey, And may they be calm and peaceful. stevel
It would seem that the "Table Rate" shipping module would be appropriate for you. Here you specify thresholds of order total value for particular shipping costs. So, for example, orders under 4.00 coat .80, orders over 8.00 cost 1.10, etc. This is a standard feature in osCommerce - you install it from the Modules..Shipping menu in admin. theenlightenedone
Hmm sounds better Can you explain this to me ? Shipping Table The shipping cost is based on the total cost or weight of items. Example: 25:8.50,50:5.50,etc.. Up to 25 charge 8.50, from there to 50 charge 5.50, etc If i am reading it correct would this work (without ?/p&p) ? Example 2 meaning ?2 ? and 0.50 meaning 0.50 p&p ? ?2:0.50 ?4:1.00 ?6:1.50 ?8:2.00 Etc etc ? I hope and pray that the deceased have a good onward journey, And may they be calm and peaceful. stevel
Yes, that's what it means. Of course, in osCommerce, you don't specify the currency symbol in such things. With the rate value of: 2:0.5:4:1.0,6:1.5,8:2.0 then orders 2.00 or less would be charged 0.5 (50p), 2.01 to 4.00 would be charged 1.00, etc. I have not used this particular method so I don't know all about it. Offhand, without seeing the code (I'm at work now), I don't know what happens at an order total above the maximum value. Experiment. If you can accurately assign weights and compute shipping by weight, that is a good solution too.
