Moving the web shop to a new server

Hello ,

I really need your help . I have webshop at www.tuning-tv.net and its working fine and now i would like to copy the whole webshop to a another domain and server . I have installed the osc totally fresh on this server. now what ???? I think i have to upload the database So i did but there is no change .Please Can some one help me the new website is at www.tuningonline.net/webshop .

Create a backup of the old database in the admin panel

Upload to the new servers oscommerce backup directory

Restore the backup via the admin panel under backups

then ftp all the images off your old site to your comp from images folder

then upload to new server images folder

Hello thank you for your reply but i have done all that but it still shows the same web shop as defalt. there is no chage at all .. What Should I do now ????

You need to upload all of the files from your old site, with the exception of the two configure.php files. These are already set up for the new website, following the install that you did.

What I did was back up the database and copy all the files from my old site to my PC. Then just uploaded everything via FTP to the new site, restored the database from the admin panel and edit both config.php files to match the new paths.

is this going to a new domain or you are moving the domain to another host? if moving old domain to new host, it takes from one to three days to propogate.

I'm just about to move all of my files from one domain to another. The new domain is already up and running so i'm hoping everything will be fairly simple.

 

Thing is i've only been using OSC for 4 days and have no previous experience using sql, ssl, php etc etc. So far i've only had to overcome a few problems which i am very pleased about as i've done them pretty much on my own. (Im waffling)

 

Just to clarify though, if I set up a new sql database on the new domain are there any other files apart from the 2 config files that contain the username and password for the SQL database, as the new database username and password are different.
