osc_beginner Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 OSCommerce seems to be just the thing i need and after downloading it, i uploaded the catalog folder. Then i went to http://mysite.realfreehost.com/catalog/install and an error page stating that register_globals wasn't enabled came up. I have hardly any knowledge of php and wanted a challenge but this is very confusing. I would be more than grateful if you experts out there could help me out. I don't know if i've done the right things and I don't know what to do next. I searched for php.ini but that file doesn't exist in the oscommerce folder. Thanks in advance for all your help.
SunnyWales Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Hiya - sorry if this sounds a bit obvious but have you read the knowledge base? It's really useful. However, saying that I downloaded the whole lot not just catalog to my host. It worked fine. I downloaded in early December and shop is running now. I had no experience of anything except MS Frontpage when I started - so there's hope for everyone. I hope this is useful. Wendy Wendy Go on spread some sunshine!
♥Vger Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 You need to go to Contributions and run a search for Register Globals. You'll find a Contribution which you can install which will allow your website to work with Register Globals set to 'Off'. The file php.ini is controlled by the server and you don't have access to it, so using the contribution I mentioned is your only way around this problem.
