Help! Need asap to add phone# to checkout_shipping

Help please :'(

 

Could anyone tell me what files I would have to edit to REQUIRE the customer's phone number to appear in checkout_shipping.php and checkout_shipping_address.php? I need to require it for the supplier - they must have a phone number.

 

I'm confused why the phone number is asked for in create account but then doesn't show up in the shipping address?

 

I'm only semi-experienced at this so please could someone give me the exact coding I would need to input and in what files (if there are others than above)?

 

Also do I have to make changes to the database via phpmyadmin at all to make this happen?
