Using a Single Quote in Product Name

A lot of my product names use a single quote (as in 6' (ft)) - I had uploaded the product names via an excel spreadsheet into products_description and all is well.

 

I noticed though that whenever I go into categories.php and edit/modify any component of the item (ie description, price etc), that the single-quote in the name is subsequently stored in the table as an actual single-quote instead of the ampersand#39 as it was originally. (Creating a new product has the same problem)

 

This then causes a browser error in the javascript popup in products_info.php. (invalid character)

 

Question: is there a way (how?) to modify categories.php so that it will store the ampersand#39 instead of the actual single quote character?

It solved my headache :D
