Yoman Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Recently, I may want to reinstall my existing eshop which is running in osCommerce 2.2 MS2 because I want to change another website hosting company. How to reinstall the whole existing shop, include existing customers database? And, I installed some contributions before. How to keep the existing contributions? Wish I can find the solutions in this forum. Thank you so much!
Guest Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 First thing you have to do is to BACKUP all existing files and not to delete your original site until the new one is up and running. Pay special attention to your database backups, those files are priceless. Then copy all files from your old host to your new one, including database installation. You might need to manually edit the 2 configuration files (1 of the admin and the other of the store itself). How much editing you need depends on your the differences in the old and new server configuration, for example, the name of your new database host etc. Finally you can try and run the site on your new host. There may be various problem with file permissions etc. You can correct them using the built-in control panel from your host or your FTP program. I hope that helps.
Yoman Posted January 1, 2005 Author Posted January 1, 2005 Thank you so much, Alpha! I found that the new store default path will be http://www.domain.com/shop but my existing path is http://www.domain.com/store. Should I manually change the paths in my existing php files?
