Installation problem

Please excuse my complete ignorance, I am just starting out with Linux and indeed osCommerce.

I am testing both of the above on a spare PC at home. I have redhat 9.0 installed with PHP and mysql seeming to run ok. I can connect to the osCommerce installation page fine and make it to the second installation screen (datbase import).

When I enter the database server, username + pw etc. information and click continue, I am left with an all but blank page and my browser cheerfully reporting that it has finished loading the page. I am not getting anything on that page bar the osCommerce logo inthe top right and the title "New Installation" with "Database Import" underneath it. I was at least hoping for an authentication failed notification or something by way of a hint at what I am doing wrong.

I get the same problem if I connect to the installation pages locally or from a remote machine. I can't think of any more useful information to add, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

TF.

In the Knowledge Base there is a complete article on installing osCommerce, and it's a good idea to read it throughly and use it as a reference as you do the install.

Did you remember to set up a blank database (to import the oscommerce.sql file data into) before starting the install?

Thanks very much for the response Vger.

I have successfully created a database and run the oscommerce.sql file against it. The tables appear to all be there.

I had previously gone through the KB article on installation. If you look at figure 3 on the KB article page, that is as far as I am getting. The next screen is as I described above. It just looks like the banner from either the next screen or possibly the error message from the next figure on the KB article page. Unfortunately the body of the page is missing so I cannot tell what is going on.....a bit frustrating as you can imagine.

Again, any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

TF.
