budbiss
Currently I am set up to not use them and everything is being spidered fine, I am considering using Session IDs to fix an issue with the shopping cart, but I am concerned about it effecting my spiderability. ♥Vger
The use of 'Prevent Spider Sessions' only prevents spiders listed in the spiders.txt file from generating session ids of their own as they spider your site - and it does not prevent an ordinary user from generating session ids. The only time this is affected is if you have 'Force Cookie Use' set to true, and then session ids are stored in the cookie and do not appear as part of the page address. With some providers of credit/debit card processing (not PayPal) you have to send them a session id, which is then sent back to you for verification. If you have 'Force Cookie Use' turned on then they usually generate a session id of their own (to make up for the lack of one from your site), and send that id back to your site. This session id is not verified, because your site does not recognise it and so the transaction fails. Vger
