I have a friend who has a site up with about 8,000 items. Runs pretty quick too on searches. His bandwidth sucks though.

millions of records with mysql is no problem, the things that matter are the bandwidth, the internet backbone, things like that

I really do apreciate that.

I started testing and when i get to over a thousand records,

the issues i have found so far:

- problem when trying to recover a db backup

- if using easy populate contrib ( vital if you have a store this size) you can't Download Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit it times out and you can t even get the headers of the file, and that actually what you need, actually you need the headers and 1 line to be able to modify the opitions

 

any idea on how to sort this out?

increase you php execution timout settings

editing the ep download file is a limitation of microsoft, not oscommerce or easypopulate.

you can use quattro pro version 12 to edit the file (goes out over 18,000 columns)
