Keep the business running first while you can and with your free time, deal with the contribution offline.

bglkk Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 OK, So how about what I asked...does anybody know how to install the IPN contribution and get it running properly? Brandon <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My copy of that contribution comes with a detailed install.html file, and I believe there is a support thread. What's the specific problem? Guest Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Hey, my Paypal was working fine and works when I test it but yesterday I received two orders through Paypal and there's no record of the order on my site. The customer is registered but they have no order. Then I noticed that an order placed earlier through Paypal on December 13th shows up in my Paypal as December 23rd. Mysterious. Anyone have any ideas? An e-mail from Paypal came for each order placed yesterday.

The problem is after they go to the PayPal screen and the payment is made, they are not hitting continue or complete or whatever the button it to finalize the sale on the oscommerce side. http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/Common_Problems/208 I think this solves it. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2679 Download the second 30 Nov 2004 and then the corrected 20 Dec 2004 replacement file.
Guest Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Yes, I went into phpmyadmin and found two pending carts. I also found some merchant setting options in Paypal for an automatic return to my site. Can you (or anyone else knowledgable) tell me the correct return URL for this setting? I'm assuming checkout_success dot php but I'd rather hear from someone before I muck around. This could save me the time of installing a new mod if it's just a quick setting change in my Paypal account. OK, now for the dumb question: I can't find my customers' passwords to log into their accounts. When I see them in phpmyadmin, they are hashed so I can't read them. Where do I find them?

Where do I find them? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> install the 'ass masterpassword" or "matster password" contribution. i'm not sure sure which one it is but it is the simple one where all you do is modify the index.php and add two master passwords, then you can do it to logon onto your store account. what i do is when that happens, i go ahead into the admin side and activate the money order payment option, then i log onto the customers account and go ahead and actually checkout the customer and use the money order payment option. that way the order will be processed but it'll show as payment as money order. you can phpmyadmin and go into the customer order and manually type in credit card or paypal (change where it says money order), however they really paid. or you can use the *order editor contribution and install that and change the payment type via the oscommerce admin.
Guest Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Thank you! I'm still looking through all the contribs and the master password one is very handy. I already use the order editor and that will make it work. This completes the problem for the existing two orders but I'm still hoping to resolve this with my Paypal account settings. I may try mucking around with it myself to make sure it works. I did read the Paypal Mod that Harald made but it sounds much more complicated than just getting my settings right w/PP.
Guest Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Just a note: The auto-return works fine as long as the customer allows it to happen. There is a brief delay. I should think most customers will see this and realize they should allow it to happen or click the button to return immediately. However, it isn't foolproof so I think the contrib provided by OSC staff might still be a good idea. I'm OK with my results for now, but if customers still don't get it, I'll work the contrib into my site. By the way, I found this on an old thread from early in 2004 and they suggested checkout_process.php as the redirect url from the paypal site. This is what I used and it works fine.
