Opening downloaded files

Hi everyone :)

 

I have just downloaded the windows osCommerce (as my pc is windows xp, is that right?) to install in my website but my pc does not recognise the files so will not open them... :'(

 

I feel I am being totally thick here as I am used to building my own websites lol.... :blush:

 

Any help would be gratefully appreciated before the PC gets thrown out the window lol...

You can open them up with notepad but you should get a php editor. You really do not need to open any of them pre install, you will only need to do that once you start making changes.

Do you have an ftp program? If not you need to get one.

 

You unzip the file and ftp all the files located in the catalog folder to your server and create the database and user on the server and then follow the directions found HERE
