I have some 600 to 700px wide images on my site, I personally don't want to go larger for a couple of reasons:

 

1. Bandwidth

2. Most viewers still are on 800x600 so it doesn't pay to "overflow" the screen

 

With these considerations I'm not sure if (many) like you will want "huge" images. My suggestion is to put a link for the "super-size image" in the items html description. On Image Contribs, there is a multiple thumbnail images that is popular.

mopics which allows you to have 14 images per product (7 small, 7 large) and also ultrapics.

the images here do not work like other application images. best bet is to make them low resolution for small images, optimized for 100 x 80 or there abouts.

Well I have a store that sells bumper stickers so It is important that customers get a sense of what "actual size really is. Secondly it is difficult to see a read a bumper sticker at a size of 150 x 40 @ 120 ppi. So a crisp, clear, resized image is rather necessary.
