budbiss Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 OK, I had a friend of mine who had been hosting my site move it over to my server. Everything works great except for one thing... The host I am using has you set up new domains as 'addon' domains...so the first thing I had to do was setup a subdomain on the servers primary domain (which happens to be another site of ours)...do you follow me so far? So the site was "abcoscommercesite.com.abcprimarydomain.com". Well, I changed all the DNS numbers and setup the addon domain on the new server so now all you need to do is enter "http://www.abcoscommercesite.com". Anyways...when you type "http://www.abcoscommercesite.com", it goes to the correct location, yet when you click on any link within the site it shows as "abcoscommercesite.com.abcprimarydomain.com"....this is MAJORLY interfering with our spidering. Please help me out on this, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. I would like to fix this ASAP, before anymore pages become spidered.
Guest Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 hmmmmmm, seems like your new host has you doing things kind of screwy, you should not have to create a cName to access your site. should be able to access it as 'http://www.mydomain.com' at all times and have the configure.php files setup normally. if they require you to alter things, then you need to find another host, as it will pretty mess up anything you have had indexed with the search engines. if you want to stay, then you need to reference everything properly via the configure.php files, and doing so is tough, the 'document_root' expects the files at a certain spot.
