mikey boy Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Does anyone know of a utility or application that allows you to run your OsC program on your PC? I know you can get a PC copy of the applications to run it as a server, but what I require is an off-line way of viewing how the site will look. Currently any major changes take forever to go through as I'm not on broadband. It would be great if I could see the site locally, work out any snags & then upload. I'm running Windows XP Pro on a 1.2G celeron. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Mike.... (....& before I get any more unhelpful, sarcastic replies, yes I have done a search already) B)
Jack_mcs Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 What you need is a copy of php, apache and phpmyadmin installed on your computer. You can download each item indivudually and install them or there are a number of packages that will do all of this for you. I use EasyPHP and am very pleased with the way it works. Guest Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 I think that easiest way to install Apache with PHP, MySQL etc. is use XAMPP from apachefriends.org. I installed it without problems and "Offline-OsC" works fine in my XP system. Of course you need to modify Apache settings a little bit, but it's easy.

Guest Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Mikey, I also use EasyPHP and love it. I do find that sometimes things act differently on my local server vs. the webserver, and vice versa. If you are interested in PHP5 and testing that way might I recommend WAMP (very very similar to EasyPHP but with newer versions of everything) If you do decide to go with WAMP make sure you do the OSC PHP5 fix first.
