Need Help With Shipping Table

I am a newbie, but I am learning. I have found lots of answers to my questions already, but this one is driving me crazy....

I want to set up my shipping with the table, based on rates. Actually I wanted to use Priority Mail, but getting that all set up with the calculated rates is way over my head, so I am settling on the table method.

here's what's in the table:

1:5.50,2:7.50,3:10.00,4:12.50,5:15.00,10:20.00,10000:30.00

and when I add a 3lb. item to the cart and go to checkout it's telling me the shipping will be $20.00

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the table rate, but I keep getting the same thing. I know it's probably a really simple mistake I am making and I feel like a fool for having to ask for help, but I don't have much hair left to pull out since I have been yanking at it for days now.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and utilized!!!

And on another note, when you get registed with USPS and get the ID and password they send you, how the heck are you supposed to get the calculated shipping installed and working? I keep getting:

"An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations.

If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner."

Thanks!

BUMP

Could someone please give me some pointers here? The whole project has come to a screeching halt because I have no way to add shipping. I am not asking for someone to explain how to do the whole USPS calculated rates thing, all I would like some help with is how to get the table rates set up correctly.... please??

I completely uninstalled the whole oscommerce program and then reinstalled it hoping that would solve the problem. Now I am starting all over from scratch, but am having the same problem as before with the tables.

Here's what I want:

up to 1lb.=5.50

1-2 lb.=7.50

2-3 lb.=10.00

3-4 lb.=12.50

4-5 lb.=15.00

5-10lb.=20.00

can someone please tell me what to type in the box on the table rates installation to get these weights to give these shipping amounts? It looked pretty self-explanatory in the sample given, but when I plugged my own numbers in it was coming up either 2.00 (which wasn't even a choice) or 20.00 for a three lb item.

TIA

Jeri
