Intermittent PayPal problem no items in cart

Hi osCommerce users,

I am experiencing some odd problems with PayPal. I have installed the v1.0 contribution, and sometimes it works okay and sometimes there are problems. There seems to be two problems, that may or may not be related:

 

1. Customers are reporting that Paypal is telling them there is nothing in their shopping carts when there is. Sometimes they get this message, and other times they do not, and everything works fine.

 

2. I am getting a lot of orders in my database that have an PayPal IPN Preparing status, but that never make it into the PayPal system.

 

Any ideas anyone?

On the second point, this is people who go part way through the purchase process and then stop (some of these will just be testing your site out). The IPN works by saving the order before proceeding to PayPal. There is information on this in the IPN setup file.

 

On the first point there appears to be an update to the IPN now, quite recent, but not from a Team Member - so whether you use it is up to you.
