Show only one catagory on home page

How do I show only one catagory at a time on my home page.

For example I have a sale on cables. The first thing I want the customer to see is my cable catagory when they come to my site.

Can you do it as a Featured Product instead? I think this is either standard or a contribution.

 

Or the other obvious thing is to use the Specials feature.
