Guest Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 1) All of my images are currently on the server in mydomain.com/images. However, it appears the OSC wants the images in mydomain.com/catalog/images, do I need two copies of the images (300megs+)? It would be a lot of work to change the other application that uses the images and therefore they must stay in the current location. If changes to the code is required, can you point me in the right direction. 2) All of my images are currently JPGs. Does OSC require the images to be BIFs I copied a couple of images and setup a couple of products. The image would not show. I later discovered that the "size" of the images had been change to zero. Copied them again and verified that the copy was correct. The image showed once, clicked on "show larger image" and got the larger image. When back again and image did not show and had a size of zero. HELP. In general, I like this product. I found "easy populate". Without it, it would be impossible for me to load my data, 1500+ products (Canadian Stamps). I am sure this is just the first of many questions. Thanks
Guest Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 what are the sizes of each image? are they high resolution? you can ftp the images to the site, (which is probably what you are doing since you use ep). if you want them in different directories, then just change the location in the v_products_image field. properties must be 777 and if using subdirectories in images then they must be 777 properties. images can be what you want, gif, jpg, bmp, etc. are you going to have your store moved up one level? if your main site is html, then i would move the images to catalog/images and just call them from your html, less work doing that and osCommerce is happy at the same time.

The size are varied, depending on the size of the item. I have previously scanned them on my scanner they are "trimmed" to their "actual" size. The are 32-byte JPG image. Not sure it that is "high definition". For past few years, I have had my images stored at mydomian.com/images. I use eBay a lot to sell my items. The software I use has that "hard-coded" into ALL descriptions of 1500+ items. That is why I what to "move" the items. I will "extract" the required information and upload to my store using "easy populate" I have created the "catalog" directory at the same level as the image. My directory structure is something like. WWW.canstamps.com index.html -------->catalog --------------------->admin --------------------->other directory for OCS -------->CGI -------->images -------->logs When my store is ready, I will "redirect" the site to index.php in the catalog directory. Glad to hear I can continue to use my JPG files. I tried to change the location in the v_products_image field but when I put in images/sheet1.JPG in ended up with /catlogue/images/images/sheet1.JPG. I just realized that maybe it will work with / at the begining. I will try that. I did not realize that I need to make the image 777. I assume that the "general" public did NOT need write authority. Any additional ideas and suggestion are more than welcome.
