Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 I've just installed osCommerce for the first time and my file manager comes up empty. Any ideas? TIA!
♥Vger Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Either your pathways are incorrect in your includes/configure.php files (in which case you should see an error), or the files did not upload properly. Best advice is to FTP to the website and see if those files are there. If they are then check what permission they have. Vger
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 thanks for the response. they exist within "Define Languages" - "English". they do exist within the directory. rights on all files and subdirectories from languages on down are 775.
♥Vger Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 After you uploaded the files and ran the install procedure, did the installation procedure work correctly or were there any errors during the procedure? Vger
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 no errors. I originally installed it in \catalog and then came back, deleted the files and reinstalled to \. could this have caused a problem?
♥Vger Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Did you download the files, and upload them to the new directory? In which case you'll have to change the paths in both configure.php files. Or did you delete the old website entirely, and reinstall from the root directory? If you did this then did you set up a new database at the same time., or are you reusing the original one? Vger no errors. I originally installed it in \catalog and then came back, deleted the files and reinstalled to \. could this have caused a problem? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 I deleted the old files from root on down. I did not remove the files from the database, assuming that the sql script dropped the tables before creating them.
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 what file manager are you talking about, the one from your host cpanel or the one in the admin area of osCommerce?
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 does the admin area work? you really dont want to use the file manager in osCommerce anyway, it will mess up your files.
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 now that you mention it, it doesn't seem to be working. I have changed the store name and don't see that change happening in the store.
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 then you should double check the configure.php files to make sure they are correct. or you can try to do a complete reinstallation.
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 deleted all files and all tables. reinstalled with same results.
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 did you reload the source via ftp or is this one you are doing from your host?
Guest Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 pm me the info, and let me install, see what is going on. i would need the db info, password, etc.
