product list page can i change to this

after you choose the category you want and you get the list of that category can i add a small description for each item on the list page rather than just a photos,names , prices. i sure it is possible but can see a way to do this i the admin. hopefully there is an addon. if not could someone let me know how i would go about doin this. thanks paul
