absolute path needed for Linux

Hello All,

I need some help with this. I am having problems with my modules and I think it is do to my absolute path for DIR_FS_CATALOG. I have tried the following and registerfly is no help (at least not the techs I got a hold of):

/lantecsystems.com/httpdocs/catalog/

lantecsystems.com/httpdocs/catalog

/httpdocs/catalog/

httpdocs/catalog/

None of these work. I do have a version running here at the house and it works fine but it is under Windows. I changed it to see if I get the same error and I do. The error happens when I go to the modules section. It does not show any modules but shows the path it is using. Somewhere I am getting this path wrong. I have checked and verified that the modules are in the correct location.

Does anybody know what the absolute path should be for sites that use httpdocs and httpsdocs?

Thanks,

Zych

Go to your osCommerce Control Panel, and under tools click on Server Info. Scroll down until you see the bold heading for Environment, and then look for Document Root, and this will give you the info you need.

Then, start looking for a hosting company that knows what they are doing!

Thanks for the fast reply, however I do not see what you are seeing. I went to tools - server info but there is no environment section. I am using osCommerce 2.2-MS2 if that makes a difference.

It only shows Server Host, OS, Date, Up Time, Database Host, Database, Database Date, HTTP Server, and PHP Version. Below this it only shows the version of osCommerce and nothing else.

I did happen to go to the File Manager section and got an error that may be of some help. Here is the errors I am getting:

Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /home/httpd/vhosts/lantecsystems.com/httpdocs/catalog/admin/file_manager.php on line 178

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/httpd/vhosts/lantecsystems.com/httpdocs/catalog/admin/file_manager.php on line 179

Is '/home/httpd/vhosts/lantecsystems.com/httpdocs/catalog' my absolute path for DIR_FS_CATALOG?

I think I will try it and find out. If you have any other ideas Vger let me know. Also thanks for all the help you have been giving this community. From what I can see you love helping the people here and I am sure everybody appreciates it.

It is there but it actually says Apache Envirorment. Look four sections down. It should start like

DOCUMENT_ROOT /home/crystals/public_html

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

Well that path worked ('/home/httpd/vhosts/lantecsystems.com/httpdocs/catalog/') . I also fixed my DIR_FS_ADMIN variable which in turn fixed the file manager. I need to go through the other configure.php file and fix it in the catalog includes area. Now I can try and find out if the SSL is working or not. As I have seen in your other replies the systems that use httpdocs and httpsdocs directories are big pains. I am working on RegisterFly to at least allow a symbolic link but it has been in vain so far.

Thanks again,

It does not show any of this. Is there something wrong with my version or configuration? The only place it says anything about Apache is in the HTTP Server. I can not scroll since my screen size shows the whole page. The only thing it shows is listed in my above post.

I'm guessing that the reason your Server Info is such a small area - is that your web hosting company has installed about 1/10th of the features normally found on a server. I have a 19" screen, and the Server Info scrolls down for about 2 metres in distance, so that it can list all of the features.

If they can't even tell you what your path is, and if they don't have a section where these paths are listed then that doesn't say much for their abilities.

Best advice - move elsewhere. You're always going to have trouble trying to run an osCommercew website with these people.

I think you are right about moving. With the httpsdocs and httpdocs directories are causing more problems than I initially thought. I just tried to make my admin tool secure and now the file manager broke again. I would have to change my settings in the configure.php in the catalog/includes area which I do not want to do. Either that or figure out where the modules part is in the program and rewrite it to use the admin configure.php settings instead. I am also getting some warnings that certain directories are not writable. What a pain.

Has somebody compiled a list of osCommerce "friendly" hosting companies?
