mhormann Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Can anyone give me the built-in 'Use Search-Engine Safe URLs' function 'in a nutshell'? Meaning, in two or three sentences? What exactly does it do? Should it be enabled (since 'experimental')? (I figured it better to ask the experts instead of looking thru all this code and experimenting, since I just now work on three things anyway...) Thanks! I don't want to set the world on fire—I just want to start a flame in your heart. osCommerce Contributions: Class cc_show() v1.0 – Show Credit Cards, Gateways More Product Weight v1.0
OceanRanch Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Search engine safe URL's will produce a URL that has the arguments in the URL seperated nicely by / rather than &. Some search engines will search your site suposedly more efficiently. However, lots of folks say this isn't so. Also, you can cause some problems on some URL links failing to be resolved properly by the web server. So.... IMHO and most other here, keep it turned off. Google etc. will still search your site.
