Sincraft Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Pretty darn new to OSCommerce and databases and php. :) SO please excuse the stupid mistakes I am sure to ask about but...I know this has been covered many times before yet I still can't find out what pertains to me. I expanded OSCommerce on my local drive. I copied the cat folder over to the public folder. I hit mywebsite/cat via http I come up with the install screen and following the documentation on this am following all the directions properly. I setup a MSSQL database called nsdb via CPanel on my hostingplex account. It added my usersname_nsdb to it. I setup a username and pass via cpanel below the db creation. I went into the permissions for both config files located under includes and admin includes and changed them to 777. I try configure things and it says: Error access denied using password (yes) - whatever that means. SO - I contact my worthless host as they have NO real tech support and have not gotten the answers I need. The answer I got was "Why not just use fantastico" whatever that is (after researching I found out what it was, I want to install OSC the way it was shown through the docs). My main question to them was: Am I using the right IP address. Is the IP address during initial setup supposed to be the static IP address to my website? Should I be changning user names and passwords somewhere in the config files? I'm lost and there is literally no documentation to get past this problem that I am seeing many have. Yet all their problems seem different from mine. Excuse me if I am missing something.. Thx. S
ozcsys Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Have you looked at the install instructions found in the knowledge base? You can take a look at it HERE Another issue is your hosting company. You may want to rethink your hosting if they have support issues because what are you going to do once you have your store up and running and have a problem. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
Sincraft Posted December 20, 2004 Author Posted December 20, 2004 Edit: I figured it out without their help lol. Ridiculous, it was an easy problem I think they should have been able to answer. If you could only see the responses I was getting back in email. It's almost like they have no idea what's going on. YIKES...maybe the previous poster was right, I should reconsider things with these people. S
