Help my site works but I don't have default.php

My site is working fine, but I can't find default.php to change my welcome message. I have looked in general.php both index.php and the two english.php and I can't find the welcome message. Any toughts please

The 'Welcome Guest' message is found quite close to the bottom of the includes/languages/english.php file.

Put here your Index (front page) information.

I can't find it in any of this files. Both index.php or the english.php. The funny thing is that in /englis/index.php I changed a define_text+main instruction and I can't see the change in any of my three computers!!!

If your store does not have any contributions that will affect this like a wysiwyg editor then this is the correct place to make your changes. How are you making changes to the file? If you are making the changes locally then uploading the file make sure it is going to the correct location, if you are sure it is then delete it from your server just before you upload as maybe the new file is not overwriting the old one because of a permissions issue. I have seen that happen before.

I tried that, changing the file on the server through the Admin panel but it didn't work.

The funny thing is that I can't even find the line for the text:

"Put here your Index (front page) information."

I have changed that line thousands of time and nothing happens. I did it right on the OSC panel and also in Dreamweaver and uploading the file. I just don't know what's wrong. Thanks for your time and putting up with me. I appreciate it

This text "Put here your Index (front page) information." is not part of the default osCommerce install - so where did you get this version of osCommerce from?

It appears that you don't have write privileges for the store/includes/languages/english/ folder

Hello

I obtained my copy from my hosting company www.lunarpages.com. I do have write permits because I can change the heading. The problem is that I can't find that line anywhere on the code.

Sounds crazy but that's one of the first things I did. I downloaded my whole site (By doing a backup at CPanel). Then did a search for *.php with the text in question and boom! nothing, no file.

I have been working with computers for 22 years and I haven't seen nothing like this altought I have seen worse in the previous versions of Windows lol!

If you don't have it already, download and install a programme called TextPad. Then use the 'Find in files' feature to search the whole of the folder that your copy of osCommerce is located in, and search for 'Put here your Index' (without the apostrophies).

It looks like you may not have a default install of osC. Look in your admin for definen mainpage in either your catalog or tool box. Also find the following lines of code in your index. php file starting around line 300.

See what you have instead of the line that is in bold.

This was installed from Fantastico. Fantastico De Luxe uses MS2.2, but Lunar Pages uses the standard Fantastico - and this script may even be MS1.
