hongkong_valentino Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 Hi All, Sorry, if someone has asked this question before but I just couldn't find the thread on OSC forum. SOS please! Anyway, my distributor provided over 500+ product pictures(in JPEG format) and they are in various dimensions located in many many folders/sub-folders. The worst is that each picture is over 50Kb in size and takes long time to load especially for non-broadband users. I am familiar with Photoshop but it's a pain to modify one picture at a time. Believing Photoshop doesn't have a feature to reduce in bulk? - I search but have no luck. Anyone kindly suggest other programs(hopefully it's freeware) which I can do this a bit easier? Thanks very much! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! - Valent
dreamscape Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 Yeah photoshop can do this. I would actually use ImageReady, which comes with Photoshop, but is optimized for saving images for the web (similar to photoshop's save for the web function). Anyways, you can create a droplet in either Photoshop or ImageReady that will allow you to drag the folder onto it and it will resize all the images. Try searching google for create adobe droplet. There are great tutorials out there with screenshots to guide you through the process. Once you learn how, it is really quite easy and save you a ton of time. Good luck. mhormann Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 How about mogrify +profile "*" -format jpg -filter Lanczos -quality 75 -geometry "100x80>" *.jpg (requires ImageMagick's mogrify, available free for both for *nix and Windows, will OVERWRITE same file types, beware) Above example assumes a) you have mogrify in your path, b) you are in the right directory, c) all existing images are *.jpg, d) thumbnails should become jpg not larger than 100x80, smaller ones unchanged :-) The quotes are just there so your shell won't expand or interpret the values.
