Difference between WS and FS file structure

Recommended Posts

I'm having post install problems. I cannot access the admin section even though I can view the homepage of the catalog just fine.

I have a feeling my paths are incorrect as I've been mucking around in the configure.php files.

There are paths for WS (web server) and FS (file system)....which is which?

For instance, when I ftp to my secure webserver, the dir structure looks like:

But sometimes I seem to use: /usr/home/me/public_ssl/catalog

So I'm not sure which is the webserver/url path and which is the file system path.

This is causing the following error:

Warning: main(includes/languages/english.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/wwws/users/drbonlie/catalog/admin/includes/application_top.php on line 130

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'includes/languages/english.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/wwws/users/drbonlie/catalog/admin/includes/application_top.php on line 130

Thank you for your assistance.

When I use ftp it seems like the path is /usr/wwws/users/drbonlie/catalog but at other times appears as /usr/home/drbonlie/public_ssl/catalog. That's where I'm confused.

This is my admin/includes/configure.php file:

// Define the webserver and path parameters

// * DIR_FS_* = Filesystem directories (local/physical)

// * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL)

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'https://ssl42.pair.com'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://ssl42.pair.com');

define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://ssl42.pair.com');

define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true'); // secure webserver for catalog module

define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT', '/usr/wwws/users/drbonlie/catalog/'); // where the pages are located on the server

define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/usr/wwws/users/drbonlie/catalog/admin/'); // absolute path required

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/usr/wwws/users/drbonlie/catalog/admin/'); // absolute pate required

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', 'usr/wwws/users/drbonlie/catalog'); // absolute path required

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/usr/home/drbonlie/public_ssl/catalog/'); // absolute path required

define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'images/');

define('DIR_WS_ICONS', DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'icons/');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG_IMAGES', DIR_WS_CATALOG . 'images/');

define('DIR_WS_INCLUDES', 'includes/');

define('DIR_WS_BOXES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'boxes/');

define('DIR_WS_FUNCTIONS', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'functions/');

define('DIR_WS_CLASSES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'classes/');

define('DIR_WS_MODULES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'modules/');

define('DIR_WS_LANGUAGES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'languages/');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG_LANGUAGES', DIR_WS_CATALOG . 'includes/languages/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG_LANGUAGES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'includes/languages/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG_IMAGES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'images/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG_MODULES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'includes/modules/');

define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN . 'backups/');

// define our database connection

define('DB_SERVER', 'xxx.com'); // eg, localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', 'xxx');

define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', 'xxx');

define('DB_DATABASE', 'xxx');

define('USE_PCONNECT', 'false'); // use persisstent connections?

define('STORE_SESSIONS', 'mysql'); // leave empty '' for default handler or set to 'mysql'

As I posted to your other thread running - your ftp file pathways are not the ones you need here. Find out from your hosting company what the pathways are to your root directory. Most hosting companies have this info on their website under FAQ's.
