Guest Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Hi, first of everything to be grateful for the creators and members of this good web on OsCommerce. And sorry, I don't speak English, Second, since nothing I am a novice in this, whole I begin and logically I meet problems, have a professional account in the server Brinkster, the qual has mysql, php.. This has the requirements in order that the osCommerce works. The one that I put to install, first in the forehead goes out for me the mistake " FATAL MISTAKE: register_globals ", though I could have solved it lowering another distribution as it is commented in a previous mesaje of this forum. Hitherto well, then I put to install http: // myserver/catalog/install/install.php, the mistake goes out for me: Database Import To test connection made to the database was NOT successful. The mistake message returned is: Unknown MySQL Server Host ' orf-mysql? .brinkster.com ' (11004) I have tried with other contributions and the same thing happens to me, per see that when I install it the paragraph 2 of the second does not go out for me screen of installation, of putting " web root directory ", " webserver catalog directory ", webserver administration tool directory "... When I install (Http: // myserver/catalog/install/install.php) it goes out for me the screen of welcome, whom I give him to install, then goes out for me a second screen alone where the part goes out for me " import catalog database " and " automatic configuration ", the commented does not go out previously, and from this screen I happen to 3, that of "Dataserver", "username"... I am an authentic novice in this, someone knows for that it can be spending this to me? Thank you, a greeting to all
Guest Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 start with the knowledge base, YOU MUST CREATE the database before installing osCommerce.

Guest Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 At the last stage of installation, your catalog/includes/configure.php and catalog/admin/includes/configure.php need to be writable. You just need to set the correct file permissions.
