Sulqk Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Hi people, Ive been trying to sort this problem out for the last few weeks but had no luck and am on the verge of putting an axe in my computer. Its so bloody frustrating. Recently I tried to change/upload products and images onto my os commerce catalog using the admin section which was working fine with no problems a few months ago... When i try and preview the product all the description is there but no image, its displays a broken link with a red cross.. Im uploading the images using "Products Image:" box and entering "images/mypic.jpg" but when previewed it has a broken link (red cross) and no image even though i can preview the image in cpanel. No error message is displayed and when i click back the "products image:" has changed to mypic.jpg. All files are small about 10k. My php version is 4.3.9 The images folder and subfolders i changed to chmod777 and changed a few images from chmod644 to chmod777 but still no luck, This used to work fine before and am on the verge of dropping my computer off a tall building and giving up. Please help... What do i do? Any advice appreciated. Thanks
Guest Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 I have a similar problem, but it has been since I installed it - I can't get it to show ANY images. CHMOD 777, I've tried it all.... I still don't know what to do.
Guest Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 for the products image, the configure.php points to images, thus you do not need to specify images/image.jpg just specify image.jpg
Sulqk Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 Thanks, i shall try that, but the images wont show, broken links? what about sub folders?

Sulqk Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 Hi Bob, The url is http://www.thepcstudio.co.uk Please note the images on the website now were uploaded when i got the site. But the images with the broken links are the ones i tried to upload. Any ideas? Thanks
dath Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 my question must be somewhat "stupidier" where do you enter the url for the image of you product? i can only see a button for "products image" which makes you start browsing your own HD. i went along with this and selected an image, but viewing it in admin AND cart showed the image was missing i'd just like to put an url there or put my images wherever they need to go... but the're no input field, that's the problem
littld62 Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 From what I see is you have alot of you pictures right in your images/shop the images such as your Test and Chenbro are not in your /shop bad img links... just add images/shop they should work. Example: Chenbro http://www.thepcstudio.co.uk/images/chenbropc.jpg Espon Laserjet 2210cc http://www.thepcstudio.co.uk/images/shop/epson112.jpg See how the Chenbro isnt in the /shop directory.. just a bad link thats all.. try that prety sure that will fix it from what I see.
Sulqk Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 I have noticed i can preview some images and not others. All images in the images folder are set to chmod644 and when i try to change them to chmod777 they revert back to 644. I have about 20 pics in the images folder and about 1000 pics in the images/shop folder, which are all set to 777. The chenbro link on my site will not load were as some selected images will be ok to preview. Any ideas?

Any ideas? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try to change on catalog section... your picture link to images/store you have it as just images. I dont know much about chmod777 so I have no idae on that. I just see that your img links are crossed... just edit them place /shop after /images
dath Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 sorry this seems to just be a 777 perm solution... (red with shame...)
Sulqk Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 Hi, HI Yeah i think i have the images working in the images folder, but the images in the subfolder wont load up. Tried everything here but images subfolder (images/shop/mypic.jpg) wont work then the images get copied to the images folder with a broken link so i have 2 copies of the same file, in 2 different folders , images/mypic.jpg and shop/images/mypic.jpg with the broken link being in the images/mypic.jpg

But the images with the broken links are the ones i tried to upload. Any ideas? Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Broken image URL: http://www.thepcstudio.co.uk/images/chenbropc.jpg Unbroken image URL: http://www.thepcstudio.co.uk/images/shop/2823.jpg Note the location on the unbroken images (/images/shop/) Installed Contributions: CCGV, Close Popup, Dynamic Meta Tags, Easy Populate, Froogle Data Feeder, Google Position, Infobox Header Entire Row, Live Support for OSC, PayPal Seal with CC images, Report_m Sales, Shop by Price Revised, SQL Updater, Who's Online Enhancement, Footer, GNA EP Assistant and still going.
Sulqk Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 But if i try and upload image/shop/2823.jpg to my product page it will not link the image (therefore a broken link) and then that same file will get copied to images/2823.jpg.... which is then broken (no image).. Whats wrong with this???
littld62 Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 http://www.thepcstudio.co.uk/images/ If you look here, you can see that some of the images have a 0K size. Seems like there is a time out on the upload or the files. just have a name no image. Best I can say is upload them again. (ones that dont work) and check each picture on where is uploads and make sure the picture works from the subfolder before even putting it on the site.
bobg7 Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Just a thought, are you sure your uploading your images as binary and not ascii? cmbyrne Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 how are you going about adding the images into subfolders? I just added the little "tip/trick" that chemo? made and it works perfectly.. when you add the image via listing the product, enter "subfolder/" and it works fine as long as the permissions are 777. i noticed that when entering the subfolder name it is case sensitive also.... How are you going about entering them? Christina *edit* if you are putting images already uploaded into the subfolders this is how i did it- move the images into the subfolders, then edit the items and reupload the image using the "subfolder/" for the images directory and everything worked fine..
Sulqk Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 I am using cpanel to upload my images to the subfolder.
Sulqk Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 But the subfolders images wont work... even after replacing them,
