Hi. I have a problem I couldn't seem to find an answer to. When someone goes to my store and adds a product to the cart and then clicks "continue shipping" the item he/she added is lost! The weird thing is that this just started happening and I haven't made any changes to the site or anything recently. Can anyone help? Thanks!!!

Oh! I should also mention that my store is live and a customer pointed the problem out to me today in an e-mail...

"Please note that the navigation on your website does not work properly. If you try to go back to the product list page after adding something to your shopping cart, you lose any items in your cart."

It is so weird. Not sure what is happening. Can someone test the site and see if it does it for them too?

Thanks so much everyone!

Ok.. so I am playing with the site and ot seems the problem may be with the "buy now" button. Not sure what to fix, but at least the problem is more evident.

Well, now it is not the "Buy Now" button, but it does it when I click on a category in the header. It is not like it is going from SSL to NON SSL so I am still not sure what the issue is.

I reloaded shopping_cart.php, index.php, sessions.php, but it didn't seem to help. Arg! It does it no matter what...if I am logged on or not.

It must have something to do with going back to the index.php cause that is the only time the shopping cart items are deleted. Does anyone now what I should be looking for?

It may be something to do with your cookie domain settings in includes/configure.php Make sure that they say www.yourdomain.com and nt http://www.yourdomain.com

Also, to further check this out, change the setting in your osCommerce admin panel for 'Display Cart after Adding Product' to false. With this setting people won't go to the cart when they click to add an item to it, and will stay on the page they were on. If they still lose the item then it will be a problem with index.php or application_top.php

Thanks for your reply. My cookie domain settings are correct and I changed 'Display Cart after Adding Product' to false, but the problem remains. Arg!

Do you know what the problem may be in index.php or application_top.php?

Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem. When I add an item to the cart and press the continue shopping button, as long as I stay within the same category, the cart keeps adding the items and products the way it should, but if I select a different category, from the category column on the left, I lose the cart contents. Now, checking at the session table, it seems that what happens is that a new session id and cookie is generated and the system proceeds as if I were in a new session. Checking the session table, the prior session with the selected items is still there, but now I have a new entry with the new session id. I thought that the session id and a coockie were generated only once for the entired session (until you logged out), but it seems to me that the session id is generated in different places. If you want to see what I mean, go to my website:

Is it there a way to solve this? I see that I am not the only one with this problem.

Pleas help.

I am having the same problem. I am wondering if anyone found the solution to this problem and if so, what it is. I would be happy to try different things if it would help.

Thanks.

KC
