Image_URL problem

Ok let me try to explain this. I upload my products through easy populate. Everything works great except image_url. The image url is pointing to someone elses website. Not my local website where my images are. I am doing this to pull the product pictures from another site. For some reason when I put the http://sitename/image.jpg in the image_url part of the spread sheet it does not work. Now I also tried to do this manually in the admin section of my site and put the http pointer in the image category and then OSCommerce just wont let me click any of the buttons to make the product. Any ideas on how I can make oscommerce recognize foreign URLs to be valid for images rather than just pointing to my local server. I use both by the way so I cant make the change globally.

Not to mention I use many sources for my products so each source has their own unique http:bla bla pointing to the urls.

I have seen only 1 other post on this in the forums and no one answered it. I dont think I worded this right. Everything works great. I just need a way to pull the image from another site besides my local site or directory.

A few quick questions, I may have an older version of EP than you so I may no be able to help but I'll try.

Is image_url part of the spreadsheet or something you created, mine only has products_image

Are you using the EP Assistant to create your EP files

Installed Contributions: CCGV, Close Popup, Dynamic Meta Tags, Easy Populate, Froogle Data Feeder, Google Position, Infobox Header Entire Row, Live Support for OSC, PayPal Seal with CC images, Report_m Sales, Shop by Price Revised, SQL Updater, Who's Online Enhancement, Footer, GNA EP Assistant and still going.

This is not an ep problem but a configuration problem. Your image path is set in your configure.php file. so that is where you would need to make the change. The problem is that if you set osC to look elsewhere for the images the misc ones that your shop uses that you probably do have on your server will not be found and that would be if you were getting all your images from one source.

I do not see any fix for this which does not involve a lot of work which is why you probably have not gotten a response. It would be easier to just add the images to your server.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

Thanks for your reply. As much of a pain in the ass this is to do this. I mean thats over 150,000 images I have to copy and paste to my server. I do believe OSCommerce needs to have this feature added. Perhaps another new box when creating products that says image url with a pointer script that wont overwrite my existing script.

in my osCom there's a line that says

Products URL:

(without http://)

maybe you should leave out http://

my question must be somewhat "stupidier"

where do you enter the url for the image of you product? (it's not the above mentioned field)

i can only see a button for "products image" which makes you start browsing your own HD. i went along with this and selected an image, but viewing it in admin AND cart showed the image was missing

i'd just like to put an url there or put my images wherever they need to go...
