marmalade Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 Hi, I'm running a store using the PayPal IPN module. I just had a customer who filled out an order, but ended up sending me money from a different PayPal account, thus sidestepping the IPN process. Now, I'm trying to update the status of their order to Completed, but the "products_ordered" field in the products table isn't getting updated. I need a way to set orders as completed, and have "products_ordered" increment every time one more unit gets sold. Otherwise, items that were sold do not appear in "Best Sellers", etc. If I update the order status in the admin panel from Customers -> Orders, it still doesn't seem to update this value. Any suggestions? thanks, A
Guest Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 refund the money and have the customer go thru a valid paypal address for payment to the store, easier for protection and paperwork handling
ozcsys Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 If you want to be able to go in and finish an order you need to install one of the master password contributions so you can login as the customer. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

Ozcsys, after I install this contribution and log in as the user, what would I do to complete the order? I'm not aware of anything the user can click to mark an order as paid/delivered and have the inventory update accordingly. Thanks.

Thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually I meant the search found HERE it will give you few choices and you can decide which one you like best. What you do is go into the customers account and check out using the pay by check module and then it will act just like any other order. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. One issue is that my site does not allow payment by cheque. Are there any other options? If I did enable the cheque payment module and I followed your suggestion, would it increment 'products_ordered' and the other database fields if I manually updated the order status to "Completed" (or whatever) in the Admin Control Panel? Because it seems the PayPal IPN orders do not update these values upon manual order status change.
♥Vger Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 You can enable payment by cheque, run the order through that customers account, and when you update it to completed, yes it will update the various fields etc. You can then disable payment by cheque again. Only enable it when you need to use it. As this customer did not pay you via the PayPal Module, and you have updated their history by processing the order manually you can then delete the uncompleted order, and this will keep your books straight. Guest Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 sounds more to me like you need either the "manual order entry" or "edit orders" contributions.....
