I'm viewing in Firefox 1.0, 1024x768

The thing I notice right off the bat is, as you said, your banner doesn't resize. You could maybe just make the background behind the banner the same pink colour as the banner itself. That way, it won't look like the header of your site just "ends" before the edge of my browser window.

I think maybe on the homepage of your site, you could center the top banner, since it's a white page. It just look funny all at the the side by itself.

I also think your category images look a bit funny. It seems you've shrunk down images of your products. It's a good idea, but at the size they need to be, the image is too small and blurry to see anything. Maybe take a small close-up of a product image, instead of just shrinking a whole product image?

I personally don't mind white boxes, but I'm pretty sure someone's going to come along and tell you to make the white background around your product images be the same pink as the background, so it blends into the site more.

Spice it up - your "selling" spice but have none :(

Kinda boring for an adult shop dude.

Well CONSTRUCTIVE !! Not.

Maybe you could read the forum rules before commenting and offer something constructive with solutions - DUDE !!!!

Perhaps you could make that lady in the background of your opening text a little paler - the text is a bit hard to read. Make it more of a watermark.

Either that, or you could have her on the right hand side in full colour with your text to the left of her.

Very standard osCommerce. Put some X-factor into it, by removing some un-necessary infoboxes, using some shadow effects maybe? Better Buttons can be found in the Contributions section.

Goods returned for exchange or credit note must in all respects be in the condition you received them. If posting goods, please keep proof of posting. This does not affect your statutory rights.

How would a lady know if a Delux Dolphin (for example) would satisfy her without using it. Once used, according to your Terms, she wouldn't be able to return it. Thus, do you really guarantee satisfaction?

Grab a slice of humble pie Steve.

Your site is stock osC with a color change. It is your job to interpret my comment about it being BORING into the solution - not mine.

But since you want it so bad:

Your header does not center on 100% viewing. Make it fit or keep the shop fixed width. if the latter - center it.

Drop the product counts - you arent going to instill buyer confidence with the small numbers showing

Get a better thumbnail contribution installed - the big white blocks in your thumbs look crappy and make the site look cheap and amateurish

your buttons were for a white background - get rid of the drop shadows as the white is still there - again tacky and amateurish

The "hover" color on your links is hard to read on the background color you chose

get rid of the silly cartoon images that come stock with osc

rethink your box order on both sides

clicking "home" takes me back to the splash page - you take people out of your store - great selling technique

mainpage text is scrunched to the left - doesn't resize

Why have "click here to email us" open my email client? you have a contact page - use it

Get rid of the "osc" look and feel - again - you sell "spice" but your site has none - there is nothing there to make a woman comfortable and a man is only looking for the nude pics and best price. You have done nothing to appeal to either sex.

Hope that was more constructive :)

Thank you, yes more constructive. But bear in mind never used osc before and all web building in new.

I will be looking at this site and contribs to try and get the changes made. I do know a lot needs modifying and have a lot of ideas, but its implementing it, as a beginner, so bear with me.

EG: how do i make shop - 'fixed width'?

The white backrounds will go by simply applying the site colour to backround pics in photoshop.

Hate the cartoon images, but still looking for better

Whats wrong with the box order, dont forget it changes when logged in

What do you mean mainpage text wont resize?

Again would love to get rid of osc feel but bit early with very little experience yet

Cheers bud

Wasn't trying to be negative the first time around Steve. Was just pointing out the most obvious problem.

IMHO, the rest of the stuff I ended up writing isnt going to make much of a difference if you dont get the overall look and feel a bit more refined.

From there, all of the little details will become obvious and you'll find yourself on track B)

Cheers and good luck on the site.

Kevin made some good points for you, when I look at your site I see "pink" and "white". To me those are colors that will appeal to your female customers. Looking at your graphics though I don't know who they would appeal to. You are only going to be able to market to one of the sexes unless you are VERY good at what you do. Pick either male or females and try to figure out what they want to see in a web site that sells your type of products and gear it towards that. Think of colors, images, in your face marketing, soft sell approach, etc.

If you want to make the site fixed width change;

<!-- body //-->

<table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="3" cellpadding="3">

to;

<!-- body //-->

<table border="0" width="760" cellspacing="3" cellpadding="3">

If you want to get rid of the image on the main page look for;

<td class="pageHeading" align="right"><?php echo tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'table_background_default.gif', HEADING_TITLE, HEADING_IMAGE_WIDTH, HEADING_IMAGE_HEIGHT); ?></td>

And change to;

<td class="pageHeading" align="right"><?php //echo tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'table_background_default.gif', HEADING_TITLE, HEADING_IMAGE_WIDTH, HEADING_IMAGE_HEIGHT); ?></td>

(just added //)

I agree with the box positions comment, Login should be above Bestsellers.

Work on the suggestions you think will make your site better and then come back. I don't want to give you the whole list now in one shot.

Thank you for your advice so far.

Have fixed the site and changed the hover text. Although having problems finding a way to centre and fix my html entry page, also finding where to change the link when 'Home' is clicked on the home>categories> is on the bar below the header.

Would love to know how to use images especially backround images within the site, properly, instead of creating table in my Net Objects Fusion web builder, as it unnessesarily duplicates it across the screen.

The next task is to find a way to get corect colour scheme and be able to fade the info boxes.

Will also be taking every picture back to photoshop to use the pink on backround colour where i had to make a larger canvass to suit osc small image size so it didnt distort, and used the original image size on the 'enlarge' link.

Really appreciate the steps with your suggestions guys.

Thank you

Steve
