Error--and admin help

Hi there,

When installing OScommerce, I know it's a good idea to change the folder Admin to a different name. But after I do that, it doesn't load. Don't I have to change some other file so that it knows what the correct folder name is? If you could help me out on that, I'd appreciate it.

Another question I have is an error----Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: c:/program files/easyphp1-7/www/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

---I know that this error is covered in the knowledge base, but I did not find the knowledge base particularly thorough in its explanation. I tried to access the correct file, but I did not have permission. I don't even know how to set permissinos on various folders.

THanks a lot for your help,

-Alex

ps

If there were better documentation on how to configure and customize your own store with this great package, then it would probably eliminate the need for SO many questions in these forms. THe knowledge base is hardly adequate, if you ask me. Especially for someone who has never done this before.

I bet you the effort it takes to answer people's questions over a long period of time would be far more than creating a very good solid PDF file that covers how to install/configure OScommerce in explicit detai!

To remove the 'write' error, just navigate to the file in question, right click, select Properties, and tick the box to make it read-only.

There is no reason why changing the name of the 'admin' folder will stop you bringing it up on your screen, although you do have to change the references to /admin/ in admin(newname)/includes/configure.php to be able to navigate from the 'admin' landing page to other parts of the 'admin' folder.

I don't know if the version of EasyPHP you've installed has php5 has part of its package, but just in case it has, go to admin/includes/classes/upload.php and on line 31 where it says $this, change it to //$this - and see if that makes a difference.
