I like the look, good job!

On the individual product pages i'd put the Brand info, the notify me and the tell someone boxes below the product description, that would make a more balanced design. (And those are logically more connected to the product itself than navigation so they should be grouped together with all the other product info, not in the navigation bar on the left.)

I particularly like the top navigation bar, great design!

I'd get rid of this bit:

2404 visits since Saturday 19 July, 2003

Doesnt instill any confidence IMHO.

I agree.

Also:

- some categories have images and others dont, like in http://loneeagletrading.com/index.php?cPath=23_39

- The "Welcome guest,..." in the homepage, IMO, is redundant and amateur, and I would remove it.

PS: Nice header!

Another really quick one here. On your main page you have "Lone Eagle Trading: An Eye for Low Prices. Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?" This is the most valuable space you will ever own. I would work on using this space to tell the customer something about your company, why they should buy from you etc. Right now it just seems like a waste of space.

Hello, nice site!

it seems that in create_account.php the column right has been erased but not the space that it occupied, making the page to look strange.

Good luck.

Couple of points:

Your site seems a bit slow - I guess you're running it on a shared server. This does not give a good impression. It doesn't seem "snappy" enough

I don't like your icons a great deal - those under "electronic" for example are a bit big and green - you should make the words bigger and the icons smaller. This goes for a lot of your icons in the top right as well - they are far too large - eg the huge "lock" and "basket" icons

When signing in, you have that "state" bug - where it's a text box one minute, then suddenly becomes a drop-down when you enter a wrong state - this is the same on all your address screens.

You still have the stock "update" icon when I go to edit my addresses.

And the biggie is that I can't buy anything without creating an account - this is something you _must_ have or you'll lose loads of orders.

Also, do you have SSL? Nobody is going to give you financial info without it!

Sorry, I know it's easy to criticise, but you have a bit more to do rather than just changing graphics!

Sorry, everyone...didnt realize we had a second string! It may be that the forum moderator delayed in approving the original thread we posted.

Katalin,

EXCELLENT suggestion regarding the moved infobox content to the bottom of each page. This gives a much more unique feel to an osC site. We'll try it out in our next project.

Kevin,

Thanks for the input on the footer counter. However, I get the impression the client wants this on the site, regardless of how small the number might be. ;)

Joaquim, I dont like the default "wecome guest" content either. We'll clean that up a bit to make a more unique introduction to the site. Ack....yes, it REEKS of a default install! hehe

Peter, I agree that it could be a good spot to reference the custom "About Us" page.

Miguel, NICE CATCH! We must have missed that page when modifying the code to show only 1 column. Thx.

FalseDawn, yes.....this domain is located on a shared server. While it takes a bit of time to propagate, it does load quickly after this occurs. Just an FYI....the icons for the category headers are admittedly pulled from our main site, so they wont make any sense for the overall continuity of the website itself. However, that is presently being worked on. Thanks for catching the stock "update" icon; we'll clean that up. Do you really think the site will lose a great deal of orders without the "purchase without account" contribution? You are probably more informed than I on that one....altough I can see the logic behind it.

SSL was never purchased by the client. This site can get away without an SSL cert for now since it only accepts payments via Paypal and check/money order. The only unsecure info would be posted when a customer creates an account...which isnt TOO sensitive in nature.

Well, I've read posts from people saying their sales have increased 30% or more since allowing customers to PWA.

Myself, if I can't just go to a site, hit "add", "checkout", then fill my details in, then "buy", I very rarely stick around, or ever go back!

I'm not particularly fond of the existing contrib - it looks like an afterthough - I will shortly be in the process of coding my own custom version. You can also take customers directly to the chckout screen, but you really need to have a bit of an understanding of the underlying database and what problems you could introduce if you do this.

Good luck!

I agree with you, there. We certainly have the talent on board to handle advanced dbase work. The question is whether one can merit the added work associated with getting it right the first time. I think in the case of purchasing without an account, from what you are saying.....it's worth exploring.

Personally, we've never used that contrib either...but we might take it for a spin to see what it's limits are.

Thx Again :)
