njgoldens Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Ugh! I am so lost. When I signed up for Hostrocket, I was under the impression (with loads of questions I asked first), that it would be easy to get my online store going. I am not a computer person. I mean, I have 2 websites for my businesses that I've done with nice, easy wizzards. Well, I am just lost at how to do this. I've read through some of the info here, and it's just over my head! I *think* I finally figured out how to even get into my admin site for Oscommerce. But, then when I click on something (like configuration, catalog, anything) it takes me to a refresh screen. What do I do??? Please help me. :'( Tonya
Guest Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Can you point me to your osCommerce website so I can take a look at it? Ugh! I am so lost. vinces Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Maybe this isn't for you if it is that hard. What you said a 4 year could do, no offense, but it is just typing in /catalog/admin after the URL. David Amherst
Guest Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Vince, maybe her server is hosed... That would make anyone freak out... Maybe this isn't for you if it is that hard. What you said a 4 year could do, no offense, but it is just typing in /catalog/admin after the URL. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

♥Vger Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 when I click on something (like configuration, catalog, anything) it takes me to a refresh screen. What do I do??? We were all total beginners at some point in time - so forget the negative comments. Best thing to do is to post your admin/includes/configure.php file here (minus the database user name and password) and I'll take a look at it, or you can send it to me. Vger
njgoldens Posted December 11, 2004 Author Posted December 11, 2004 http://host71.hrwebservices.net/~perkypa/admin/ is this what you mean? Or this? http://66.147.226.141/~perkypa/ www.perkypa_osc I got this in an email from oscommerce when I signed up, but I don't know what it is. If none of this helps, I don't care sharing my password. Afterall, I can always change it, and nothing is in there yet!! Thanks for your help. ~Tonya (I'm a positive reinforcement dog trainer, so the negative words just bounce off me  )
njgoldens Posted December 11, 2004 Author Posted December 11, 2004 I just heard back from Hostrocket: "First of all as osCommerce script is setup to work under the domain perkypawscafe.net while you can call up the default storefront page using your test URL http://66.147.226.141/~perkypa/ the script isn\'t going to function properly at this point as all image tags and links are being called from the as yet non-existent perkypawscafe.net domain. What is the status of this domain? Have you already registered or intend on registering it or would you like us to register it on your behalf? As far as the osCommerce admin section that can be found in the /admin directory on your account. Once your domain has been registered and is up and running you will be able to access the various osCommerce configuration menus where you will setup the script and add your products here: http://perkypawscafe.net/admin/ If you wish to try accessing the admin section in order to confirm that your login is working you can go to http://66.147.226.141/~perkypa/admin/ however you really wont be able to actively start working on setting up your cart until your domain is working." So, this perkypawscafe.net needs to be registered. When I was signing up for Hostrocket, and the application asked for a domain name, I talked online with their support. They told me to put anything in, that it wouldn't matter. So, I entered perkypawscafe.net Well, I guess they were wrong, it does matter. lol So, I guess I will register this name, and hopefully everything will work. Tonya
Guest Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 You can also simply enter perkypawscafe.net and www.perkypawscafe.net into your local hosts file. That'd let your PC access it even before you register the domain. WinXP hosts file is at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. I seem to remember the Win2000 hosts file at c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts . -jared
