Need to say Thank You to TCWho...you were right

As TCWho well knows...I've been driving myself up the wall for days trying to figure out why my Welcome e-mail is going straight into Yahoo's trash folder...or bulk folder as they call it.

You were right. It was my store name. Soap Opera World. I don't know....I'm still puzzled and really irritated that the name is somehow being flagged as spam.

I changed everything. The sender field makes no mention of Soap Opera World. The subject line.......no mention of SOW. The text in the e-mail itself.....no SOW to be found. And it now goes straight into my inbox folder at Yahoo.

What a mess. All I can think is that the phrase of 'soap opera'...which is a pop culture-type phrase meant to describe a certain medium...is simply not friendly with Yahoo's filtering system. I don't know. Personally, I think it's ridiculous. But...I changed it all, and now the e-mails go to the INBOX as opposed to the bulk folder.

So, Thank You to TCWho. I guess I should have taken your advice late last night and changed that. But.....I'm stubborn. I'm still amazed that that's what is the problem with my e-mails. So silly. So stupid. But, I remember posting previously that it WOULD turn out to be something stupid.....and it certainly did.

no problem. Im glad you figured it out. It was driving me crazy when it was happening to me...but the name was one of the first things I checked....want to rule it out from the start

so what did you change it to?

S.O.W. ??? Im sure you will find a good phrase...just takes a bunch of trials and errors..

tip: I got tired of registering and starting mailing myself from the admin console>>tools>> send email .... much faster at troubleshooting

Hi! You must be a nightowl like me!

Actually, all I did was eliminate any and all references to Soap Opera World.

In the sender line.....it's my seller name on eBay...followed with <[email protected]>

The subject line merely says....Registration Confirmed-Welcome To Our Website

No mention whatsoever of that store being Soap Opera World

Then the text e-mail itself.....I have the HTML turned ON....even though that was considered to be a possible culprit.....but, the HTML code serves no purpose whatsoever other than to highlight certain words, in boldface....in other words, there is no logo, no colorful background, no active links, nothing than a few words here or there.....just like your own welcome e-mail, TC....shown in boldface print.

The links to 'write us with any questions you may have at'....are not active links. Not clickable links. Just [email protected]

Worked perfectly.

I can relate to what you mean about going back and forth with the admin console. I don't know HOW many times I've gone in and deleted myself as a customer with my Yahoo e-mail account.....then had to delete temp files and cookies......and sign up again just to see if the stupid thing goes...FINALLY...to Yahoo's inbox folder, rather than the dreaded bulk folder. I've been at this for 24 hours now.

On that note....I have to say something about my web hosting service, AQ Host.com

I don't know if you noticed it or read it, TC, but my hosting provider jumped in that thread that you and I created yesterday....to defend themselves.

As far as I'm concerned.....you and I went thru hours of trying to identify and correct a problem. Thru a process of elimination...you and I were trying to narrow down what the problem actually was with my Welcome e-mails.

We ruled out HTML being turned on...we ruled out the content of the e-mail because yours AND mine were identical at some point...we ruled out all kinds of things and kind of ended up thinking....it must have something to do with my webhost.

Well, I spent five hours going back and forth with AQ Host today about it. They insisted that my problem had nothing whatsoever to do with their hosting services. Even sent me links to 'check out' their IP address to see if there were any active blocks of any kind on them. AQ Host did what they always have done for me.....knocked themselves out trying to help me figure this out. So.....the problem here is not my webhosting service.

It's every idiot out there that's sending spam mail that has created a problem for me and my website. I just end up feeling that I may have conquered my problem with Yahoo.....but there's no telling what other servers are doing regarding spam mail. It's a HUGE problem.

I pay extra every month for my local ISP service just to have them filter out spam mail. But......I get three e-mails a day for weeks now from some lonely housewife who wants me to call her because her husband won't be home until January. LOL.

Know what I'm saying? So much for filtering my e-mail.

I'm just happy my Welcome e-mails are hitting the INBOX as opposed to the bulk folder at Yahoo now. Mission accomplished. Thanks very much, TCWho.

 Yeah I noticed. I laughed a good minute at that one. We were just troubleshooting ... but hey they did the right thing by clearing themselves ... cant blame them
