watts Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 hi everyone, complete newbie here so please excuse if i sound completely loss (its because i am!). basically, i've been looking around for something i can afford that would be an all-in-one for my customers (orders and customer service), but i also want to make sure its reliable . im not much of a techie, so coming across all those errors i've seen posted kinda scare me :sweating: this program sounds too cool to be true, can't wait to purchase hosting.. and start installing - which leads me to my questions: (1) if you have a sec, can you tell me how long you've been using the program and how many stars you would give it from 1-5 (5 being the highest?) (2) are we able to send and receive emails within the program? if so, is there a way to track the various incoming customer inquiries? (sorta like a ticketing system)? (3) last but not least, how would rate the installation part of it from 5 to 1, with 5 being the most difficult. how many days would you say it toook? (4) any suggestings for web-hosting with the secure SSL thats affordable, reliable, and secure? i really wished i was informed about this program and forum a long time ago, i've tested some CRM software but it doesn't seem like it does nearly as much as this program does (it's not suppose to, but all i could afford at the moment). can't wait to get the response so i can get going! very excited! thanks in advance...
bglkk Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Welcome. I'll try taking a stab at this. 1) 10 months. Five stars. The software is outstanding to start with, but the user community takes it to another level. 2) Yes. You can track email relating to an order in administration. If you need more sophisticated tracking, there are several help desk / support system contributions that you can install. 3) A stock installation is pretty easy, although that assumes that you've done your homework first. Then you'll want to customize for your requirements. Depending on your needs, that can be a big, ongoing job. 4) Sorry, I wouldn't try to recommend a host. For a cheap SSL cert, you might take a look at GeoTrust QuickSSL: http://www.ev1servers.net/english/quickssldetails.asp "Buy the ticket, take the ride..." -HST
Rob123 Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 My experiences: 1. 2 years, 5 stars 2. Emails are built in and customizable (using php). I do not use a ticketing system 3. Stock Installation took 20 minutes and installation GUI was EASY since I have a full SSL. (However, it seems that many people with shared SSL have problems configuring it the first time around.) 4a. We're not allowed to recommend hosts on this forum (not even the one that appears on the banner on top of this page.) 4b. In my opinion a SSL cert is an SSL cert so it doesn't really matter which one you pick. HTH and Good Luck, Robert
Guest Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 There is a contribution section with everything you could possibly want, even a trouble ticket system I think... been using osC for a few years now.... There is nothing better at any price, let alone open source. 6 stars ( one for the forum support) My experiences:1. 2 years, 5 stars 2. Emails are built in and customizable (using php).
