lizzyb Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Just wondering if anyone has an opinion or experience with the IP blocking contributions. I have been having illegal activity on my site, and I am considering implementing one of the contributions, but would like to hear what other people's experience has been with it. thanks Liz
Guest Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 are you sure it is illegal activity and not robots/search engines?
lizzyb Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 Yes, they are trying all sorts of credit card numbers to get a valid one, and it is going all the way through to Authorize.net, our cc gateway.
Guest Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 It may be simpler to use an IP blocker from your ISP - - cPanel (and other control panels) provide that function. -jared
♥Vger Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 I have no experience of any contributions that do this. I guess I am lucky in that one of the servers I use is a Unix server with a customised control panel, and I can just use that to block IP addresses and can use the wildcard * to block a whole range of addresses. But .htaccess can also be used! Just do a search in google for ip address blocking via .htaccess and I'm sure you'll come up with the formula! Vger
