tallguyweb Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 I have setup 3 osCommerce stores, all using Authorize.net. I have gotten reports from users that occasionally, after entering a valid credit card, they are sent back to the payment information page after clicking the "Confirm Order" button. No error message is displayed, and they were not able to checkout. I witnessed it happening once, and there was indeed no error message displayed. I immediately submitted a test order using my credit card and everything worked. I have not been able to reproduce it, but I am now convinced that it is not just a case of the user not noticing the error message. Steve Tesmer TallGuy Productions, Inc.
tallguyweb Posted December 23, 2004 Author Posted December 23, 2004 Since making my original post on Dec 8 I have had several new reports of this problem from my clients. I have also been in contact with another developer, with much more osCommerce experience than me. They are getting complaints of the same problem: Click "Confirm Order", and get bounced back to the payment page with no error messages. Checking the Authorize.net account page reveals that, at least in some cases, the transaction has been declined. Usually more than once as the customer repeatedly tries to check out. If we are getting this many complaints, I have to wonder how many customers just give up and we never hear about it. Does anyone have any information they can provide to help diagnose/fix this problem? HELP! Steve Tesmer TallGuy Productions, Inc.
cottage-rose Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I don't have an answer, but you are not alone. If a credit card is declined for any reason, apparently they don't get a message saying why, they just get bounced back to the payment page. Since authorizenet does not send emails for declined payments, I don't usually know about these unless I happen to go into authorizenet that day and see them or the person emails or calls. Most customers however will just give up and go somewhere else. I haven't been able to figure out how to get the system to let them know the credit card is declining and why. Usually it is just a zip code problem or they put in the wrong cvv number. Shari Cottage Rose - Gifts, Crafts and Collectibles
