Howto: Pre-selected products in the new_products

Hi all

 

is it possible to have a set of pre-defined products that display in the "new_products" infobox in the middle of the main page?

 

I would like to keep certain products in this box without having to fiddle with the sql database etc. Is there a contribution that does this?

 

One thread suggests it's the featured_products contribution that does this, but I believe that only does it for an infobox in either the right or left column (according to the ReadMe).

 

Any ideas anyone?

Look for featured products in the contributions section and just replace your new products with featured products.

will that look exactly the same as the new_products infobox? I.e. number of products etc?

 

When you say "replace your new products with featured products" what exactly do you mean? I though the ReadMe of that contribution says it will create a bo in the left or right column?

 

I am just checking, as I don't want to do it on my live shop only to find it's not what I was looking for - and confuse some customers in the process.

The featured products box will replace the new products box.

 

You really should not be making changes on a live shop. You should always make your changes on a test site first. If nothing else you can create a folder named /test and install a copy of your store there and try out any and all changes there first.
