Misteraven Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 Hello, I finally upgraded out store from osCommerce MS1 to osCommerce MS2 and would really love to be able to import my customers and orders so they dont have to re-register and not have access to previous orders placed. Surely someone has worked out a solution to this? I've installed a few contributions that made very slight database changes, but is anyone aware of any tools to help get this done? I'm somewhat comfortable with MySQL, but would hate to try and figure out how to import table data manually if I didnt have to. Thanks for the help.
Misteraven Posted December 7, 2004 Author Posted December 7, 2004 I just found another post where they were discussing a similar issue and someone mentioned the 'extras' folder from the download. I've looked in this directry and it's contents, but no documentation on how to use the scripts/files provided. Anyone have any experience or knowledge with this sort of thing. Maybe a link to some documentation? Thanks.
Misteraven Posted December 7, 2004 Author Posted December 7, 2004 oh yeah, here's the post I found... http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=124738&hl=
dblake Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Download your old database and then take the orders information and the customer information and put it into the new database tables. Sounds tedious but it will work.
Guest Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 you have to run the update script in extras, you can not just place the data from ms1 into ms2

Thanks for the help. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can do it manually and it is not really that hard. It should not take more than an hour or two. You can check out the post found HERE The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
Misteraven Posted December 8, 2004 Author Posted December 8, 2004 before i try and do this manually, can someone fill me in or point me towards the docs or instructions for the files included in the 'extras' directory? particuarly those files relating to importing/upgrading/moving customer orders/info (database). thanks.
