Jack_mcs Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 It is probnably an issue with permissions. However, you should not be using the filemanager in admin since it introduces errors into your code. I do this in my ftp program. If I right click on the file and choose properties/CHMOD it lets me change the permissions. Setting 777 gives full permissions to read and write. Remember to change the permissions back to their original state after editing to safeguard your files. Hope this helps.
Guest Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 HELLO, I HAVE TRIED CHANGING THE PERMISSIONS TO 777, BUT FOR SOME REASON I AM GETTING THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE THAT I CAN DO. TONY
ozcsys Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 HELLO,I HAVE TRIED CHANGING THE PERMISSIONS TO 777, BUT FOR SOME REASON I AM GETTING THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE THAT I CAN DO. TONY <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tony As Jack said you should not be using the online file manager in the admin. I will screw up your files and the next thing you know your site does not work correctly. You should edit the file on your local computer an then ftp it back to your server. Learning to do this is a much better use of your time than trying to make something work that is going to turn around and bite you where you sit anyway. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. ♥Vger Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 The other responses are quite correct, you should not use the osCommerce file manager, and using ftp is best. However, if your site is on a Windows server then you won't be able to use the chmod command in ftp. In this case go to your web hosting control panel, look for the File Manager, locate the file nad then follow the procedure to alter file permissions in this way. Vger
