CorpBoy Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 Hey, I am currently debating the merits of using Paypal as my credit card processor vs. the traditional merchant account route. I've seen references on a couple of different web sites that imply that PP shouldn't be used because it is an indication that the site isn't a "real" merchant, and using traditional merchant accounts somehow makes the online merchant look more legitimate (and thus building confidence in your prospective buyers). Anyone care to share their thoughts on the subject?

CorpBoy Posted December 7, 2004 Author Posted December 7, 2004 Take a look here and then post back! Mark <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I looked that site over last week. I don't see how it is relevent to a discussion of the perception of legitimacy that Paypal lends to an online store in the eyes of its customers. And as much as I'd like to comment on the sites content, that too would be off my own topic of discussion, so I won't :)
mark27uk3 Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 When I used to use Paypal (Urgh!!!) I had no end of trouble with chargebacks, even for items that very only worth a couple of pounds so I ditched em! If you get a charge back then they take the money from you and then you have to ask question later! As far as customer perception goes, I have started using worldpay and in the last week alone my sales have doubled! Mark Lifes a bitch, then you marry one, then you die!
