gary_manila Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 hello! - might be more of a mysql issue but any help would be appreciated: my db when backed up produces a 200mb. sql file, which i wish to try to run on my local pc (localhost) to play around with. problem is the humongous file cannot be phpmyadmined or otherwise exported into my localhost installation due to size. ergo: a. how can i break existing 200mb .sql file apart into smaller increments to allow import? if not, then: b. i used the osc backup facility to create the backup. any other way to make incremental backups? my current host does not use phpmyadmin. however i have console access. if console access is best (almost sure it is), can anyone point me to where i can find appropriate commands? I am well aware of risk but it seems best/only option. once again any help either way is much appreciated. many thanks gary
Guest Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 it is not a large file, you may have it compressed via gzip, tar, etc. try opening it with winrar. can you open it as a text file?
